Dr. Kelly Hall is a strong supporter of travel and international experience. She facilitates all study abroad at the college, and leads Cedar Crest’s cornerstone program, the Sophomore Expedition, which provides a nearly cost-free international opportunity for all eligible students. The program won the prestigious NAFSA Simon Spotlight Award recently, and champions the college’s DEI initiatives to provide study abroad to all, regardless of personal finances, graduation timeline, or academic major. She is proud to be the leader of a department that offers study abroad on all seven continents, including an upcoming study tour to Antarctica.
She spent a year studying at the Sorbonne in Paris while earning her BA at Sweet Briar College, and later earned her MA in medieval studies from the University of York in England. Her PhD is in medieval literature, and her dissertation topic was medieval travelers. She has 14 years of college-level teaching experience in literature, language, and the humanities, and has taught courses in London, Florida, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. Before coming to Cedar Crest, she was teaching college-level courses aboard deployed U.S. Navy vessels in the Arabian Gulf and had worked as a cargo logistics manager for a field camp in Antarctica.
