Mission

The Dietetic Internship at Cedar Crest College, in accordance with the mission of the College, is dedicated to the education of the next generation of leaders. Cedar Crest College prepares students for life in a global community by educating the whole student. The Cedar Crest College Dietetic Internship supports the education, development, and preparation of entry-level registered dietitians through a dedicated and knowledgeable faculty and community preceptors working within program goals and outcomes. 

Goals & Objectives

Goal #1: Graduates will be fully competent in foundational dietetics knowledge and skills upon program completion and be successfully employed as qualified entry-level dietitian-nutritionists. 

Program Completion*: 

1a. “At least 80% of interns complete program requirements within 15 months (150% of planned program length of 10 months).” Full-time Stand-alone DI Certificate Program. 

1b. “At least 80% of interns complete program requirements within 26 months (150% of planned program length of 17 months).” Full-time DI/Master in Nutrition or Master of Science in Integrative Exercise Science Programs. 

1c. “At least 80% of interns complete program requirements within 26 months (150% of planned program length of 22 months).” Full-time DI/Modular Master of Science Program. 

1d. “At least 80% of interns complete program requirements within 33 months (150% of planned program length of 22 months).” Part-time Stand-alone DI Certificate Program. 

1e. “At least 80% of interns complete program requirements within 33 months (150% of planned program length of 22 months).” Part-time DI/Master in Nutrition Program. 

1f. “At least 80% of interns complete program requirements within 36 months (150% of planned program length of 24 months).” Full-time DI/Master of Business Administration Program

1g. “At least 80% of interns complete program requirements within 33 months (150% of planned program length of 22 months).” Full-time DI/Master of Public Health Program.

Graduate Employment: 

1. Of graduates who seek employment, at least 80% are employed in nutrition and dietetics or related fields within 12 months of graduation. 

Graduate Performance on Registration Exam:  

2. At least 90% of program graduates take the CDR credentialing exam for dietitian nutritionists within 12 months of program completion. 

3. The program’s one-year pass rate (graduates who pass the registration exam within one year of first attempt) on the CDR credentialing exam for dietitian nutritionists is at least 80%. 

Employer Satisfaction: 

4. At least 90% of employers who respond to the employer survey will answer yes to the following question: “Is your employee, a graduate of the Cedar Crest College Dietetic Internship, able to exhibit performance as a competent entry-level dietitian-nutritionist in their position? 

Goal #2: Graduates, instilled with a strong community spirit, will promote community involvement and leadership as personal and professional priorities. 

  1. On the alumni survey, at least 75% of internship graduates will indicate that they participated or plan to participate in at least one community service activity in community settings and among diverse populations and cultures.  
  2. On the alumni survey, at least 50% of internship graduates will indicate that they are involved in or plan to participate in leadership activities within their employment positions, professional organizations, volunteer activities, etc. (dietetics- related or not).

Outcome Measures

The CCC Dietetic Internship graduates will be prepared to provide community service to the citizens in their communities and to provide evidence-based nutrition information to the larger global community. Through the diversity of experiences and depth of clinical and community nutrition knowledge, the Cedar Crest intern graduates are prepared to enter the field as highly competent entry-level dietitians to provide nutrition care in a culturally diverse society.
