This February 22, 23, 24 at 7 p.m. and 25 at 2 p.m., Cedar Crest College’s Department of Performing Arts premieres The Great American Trailer Park Musical – an all-American musical odyssey where chaos ensues and hilarity reigns!
Our story follows the newest tenant at Armadillo Acres—and she’s wreaking havoc all over North Florida’s most exclusive trailer park. When Pippi, a stripper on the run, comes between the Dr. Phil-loving, agoraphobic Jeannie and her tollbooth collector husband, the cussing gets loud, feelings get hurt, and a drama-fueled love triangle ensues. All the while, a Greek-chorus-eque trio of trailer park women help guide the narrative, breaking the fourth wall at whim with their thoughts. This offbeat, fun-loving musical is one that the New York Times called “a heartfelt, humorous look at trailer park life,” with music that “slips across the dial of American radio from country to blues to rock to disco to bump and grind and R&B.”
Directed by William Mutimer, Professor of Theatre and Communications at Northampton Community College, the production features a mix of Northampton Community College and Cedar Crest College students/alumnae.
