As part of the Communication Department’s “Women’s History Month Film Series,” enjoy this screening of The Watermelon Woman.
The blurb is as follows:
- A cornerstone of the 90s new queer cinema, Cheryl Dunye’s mockumentary film The Watermelon Woman is the first feature to be directed by a Black lesbian. It is a brilliant self-conscious engagement with the lost “herstory” of Black lesbian representation.
There will be a post-screening discussion helmed by Dr. Peter Nagy.
