Two members of Cedar Crest College’s Doctoral Nurse Anesthesia (DNP) program were awarded prestigious scholarships from the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA), a national professional organization for Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists and Student Registered Nurse Anesthetists.
Dominick Richards, a member of the Doctoral Nurse Anesthesia Class of 2022 was awarded the Art Zwerling Memorial Scholarship through the AANA. Rebecca Satterfield, also a member of the Class of 2022, was awarded the AANA Dean M. Cox Memorial Scholarship. According to the AANA Foundation, the 2020 scholarship recipients underwent a rigorous evaluation process and were chosen from 2,288 highly qualified applications. There were 71 scholarships awarded totaling $181,000.
“I am so proud that two of our students have been recognized by the AANA. Art Zwerling was one of my teachers and mentors when I was in school. I am elated that Dominick received such an esteemed reward. Dominick and Rebecca were chosen out of a large group of qualified candidates, which proves the high caliber of students we have in our new Doctoral Nurse Anesthesia Program,” said Stephanie Woodruff, DNP, MSN, CRNA, director of the nurse anesthesia program.
The Cedar Crest College Doctoral Nurse Anesthesia program is a 36-month long program with many clinical sites in Pennsylvania in New Jersey. As the first nurse anesthesia program in Lehigh Valley, it features small cohort sizes with individualized attention from their program faculty and administrators. Cedar Crest College’s multimillion-dollar simulation lab is often utilized throughout the curriculum, and the program is fully accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education Program.
