Cedar Crest College is pleased to announce the appointment of Laura Teoli, Ph.D., ATR-BC, LPC, LCAT, as the new Master of Art in Art Therapy (MAAT) program director, effective May 24, 2021.
Teoli is a graduate educator, researcher and art therapist with 13 years of clinical experience working with individuals experiencing a range of mental health diagnoses. With six years of teaching experience, Teoli emphasizes collaboration, community and inclusion in the classroom. Her research interests include actively creating art during therapeutic sessions, body-image awareness and advocacy, and art therapy practice. As a private practice clinician, Teoli currently offers art therapy via telehealth sessions.
A board-certified art therapist, licensed creative arts therapist and licensed professional counselor, Teoli most recently served as a tenure-track assistant professor of art therapy at Nazareth College in Rochester, NY. In that role, Teoli taught graduate and undergraduate courses in the Creative Art Therapies Department, supervised graduate art therapy student interns and served on faculty welfare and diversity-focused campus committees. At Nazareth College, Teoli was previously a visiting assistant professor of art therapy from 2017- 2019 and acting program director and visiting professor of creative arts from 2016-2017.

Her dynamic nature and thoughtful approach to the field of art therapy will be contagious as she begins her work with our students,” says Jill Odegaard, MFA, professor and art department chair at Cedar Crest College.
Teoli received her Ph.D. in expressive arts therapy from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA, her master’s degree in art therapy with an emphasis in counseling from Mount Mary College in Milwaukee, WI, a graduate diploma in art therapy from LaTrobe University in Australia and her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Stonehill College in Easton, MA.
“I am looking forward to guiding and supporting the MAAT students as they work toward their goals,” Teoli shares. “I hope to get to know what inspired them to start this journey and what it is that keeps them going so that ultimately, I can walk with them as they transition from students to new professionals.”
