The College Now Offers a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Concentration in Tourism and Hospitality Management
In an era defined by dynamic shifts in global travel patterns and consumer preferences, Cedar Crest College is pleased to address the evolving needs of this industry with the addition of a new Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Tourism and Hospitality Management.
The Tourism and Hospitality Management program will equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in this dynamic field. Delving into key aspects of the industry, the curriculum covers topics such as operations, infrastructure management, and the creation of compelling visitor experiences.
“The hospitality and tourism industries are projected to be one of the fastest growing sectors of the economy over the next few decades,” says Michael Zalot, Business Department Chair at Cedar Crest College. “And it’s not just distant, exotic locales — locally, the Lehigh Valley commands about two billion dollars in tourism revenue per year. Our new concentration and minor in Tourism and Hospitality Management will prepare students for a wide range of careers in these fast-growing industries.”
Students will gain expertise in:
- Describing the key components of the tourism and hospitality industries, including success factors in travel, destinations, accommodations, dining, excursions, and theme parks.
- Planning for tourism and hospitality operations success, including appropriate infrastructure, facilities, and capacity management.
- Creating compelling visitor experiences that drive revenue to build local economies, including labor, supply chain, local government, and local chamber strategies.
- Targeting offerings to particular segments within the industry, including global visitors and local clientele.
This innovative program is also available as a minor to complement the studies of other disciplines.
