Counseling Center

Overview

Life as a college student can be exciting, but it also can bring about new stressors and concerns. At Cedar Crest College, students have access to counseling services from licensed mental health professionals from Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN). If you are looking for mental health care, our behavioral health specialists are here to support you.

Location/Contact

The Counseling Center is located within the Health Services suite in the rear of Curtis Hall, room 106. The Counseling Services number is (610)606-4640 from an outside line or extension x3476 from an on campus phone. In case of emergency call Campus Police by dialing “0” from any campus phone or 610-437-4471.

Through this program, students can schedule in-person or virtual short-term therapy sessions throughout their time at Cedar Crest College. Sessions are available Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (while classes are in session) by appointment only. While medication cannot be prescribed during these sessions, your mental health professional can refer you to another clinician for this type of support.

Getting Started

To set up an initial appointment, please call 610-606-4640 or visit our office in person. Appointments are typically available within a week of your first contact with the office.

Program Structure

During your initial appointment, you will complete an initial assessment with your assigned counselor. This will help them understand your reasons for seeking support and your goals for your future sessions. Your counselor will then develop a plan for ongoing sessions and make recommendations for any offcampus referrals that could provide you with additional support. You will then start attending counseling sessions, which can take place weekly, bi-weekly or monthly

Confidentiality and Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. All counseling services are provided in a private, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)-compliant space on Cedar Crest College’s campus. If you would like to have your session records sent to other doctors or clinicians, you must provide written consent.

Staff

The counseling center is staffed with licensed mental health professionals contracted and credentialed with Lehigh Valley Health Network.
