Students in the Cedar Crest College Pan-European MFA in Creative Writing program who are American citizens may qualify for financial aid.

How to Apply for Financial Aid as a SAGE Student

  • Apply to this MFA program. You must be accepted before we can check on your financial aid. Also tell us about any transfer credits you may have. Apply here.

Pan-European MFA Scholarships

The Pan-European MFA in Creative Writing annually offers two scholarships to students who begin study during a summer residency. Scholarships provide $1,500.00 USD per year toward tuition for up to two years of study during the distance mentorships ($750 USD toward tuition for each fall and spring distance-mentorship semester over two years, up to a maximum of $3,000 USD per student).

These merit-based awards are granted on the basis of the applications’ writing portfolios and personal essays that demonstrate a promise of distinction in the program. In order to be considered for a scholarship, applicants must have completed their application file by the April 1 deadline to start the following summer residency. No additional scholarship application form is necessary.

In order to maintain eligibility for the scholarship, recipients must enroll in the MFA program beginning at the following summer residency (not delaying matriculation in the program) and must maintain continual progress toward the degree as defined by the MFA program handbook.

Graduate Assistantships

Remote Graduate Tutors

Several remote graduate assistant positions are available in the Writing Center to tutor graduate students across the College. Candidates for the graduate tutoring positions should be in good academic standing, be self-motivated with the ability to work independently, and have an excellent command of written and spoken English. Previous writing tutoring or mentoring experience is valued but not required. Candidates must be committed to helping student writers across disciplines and must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding academic matters.

Each tutoring position will offer approximately 5 hours of work per week during the fall and spring semesters, with a cap of $1,000 for each semester. Interested applicants should contact the MFA Program Director Alison Wellford () for more information.

Graduating Student Locale Coordinator

We offer one current graduating student the opportunity to work as a student locale coordinator during their third and final residency. The student locale coordinator will handle on-site student and faculty printing, assist with program coordination, help ensure student safety, create and post social media content, and work with our host company when necessary. A strong candidate should be conscientious, detail-driven, helpful to others, and willing to be present during all program-related activities. The candidate should have access to a camera to upload photos and videos to social media. Candidates are also required to stay at residency housing. 

The student locale coordinator will have their final residency fee waived as payment.

Teaching Assistantships

For those students interested in gaining teaching experience, we offer opportunities to guest teach in our undergraduate creative writing and professional writing courses, both in-person and remotely.
